Google recommends multiple date signals on web pages

Maintain the integrity and credibility of your website by using multiple date stamps to display the correct date in search results.

Google emphasizes the importance of including multiple date symbols on web pages to ensure that the correct date appears in search results.

After a bug with Google News dates that Glenn Gabe highlighted on Twitter, Google’s Search Liaison Danny Sullivan reminds the public about the recommended practice of including multiple date stamps on web pages to avoid errors the same.

Understand that correctly, the meta data alone may appear to some to be sufficient, and we will always work to improve it. But there are good reasons why we love most of the sun signs out there.

Incorrect or outdated dates can cause confusion and prevent users from visiting the site.

That means Google has to fix it. However, advertisers must do their part by giving Google the right signals.

Sullivan links to Google’s documentation on influencing online dates in search results, which states:

“Google doesn’t rely on a single day because all data can have problems. That’s why our systems look at several data to get our best estimate of when a page was published or updated the most .”

Although Google does not guarantee that the date, whether it is visible or contains classified information, will be displayed in the search results, following its guidelines helps Google find and process the content.

Best Practices For Article Dates In Google Search Results

There are several ways to ensure that the correct date appears in search results:

In addition to using proper HTML tags to specify the date, keeping your content fresh can increase the chances that Google will display the correct date.

Finally, it’s important to minimize signs that can confuse Google, such as displaying multiple dates on the same page.

To help ensure accurate dates in News and Search, Google guidelines state that articles must include a clear, visible, visible date and time between the title and text of the article.

Google is working on improving its ability to detect and display article dates with fewer symbols, but it’s not there yet.

Until then, publishers are strongly advised to follow Google’s best practices for article dates.
